Tonight I took Rose out for a Girls Night Out. We went to see Kit Kittredge: American Girl. It was set in Cincinnati, which we of course thought was so cool. Not that I recognized it; after all our city looked quite a bit different back then. But it as fun to hear streetcar stop like "Clifton/Ludlow" and know where that is. Anyway, it was set in 1934-the midst of the Great Depression. I was shocked by how similar the headlines then were to the headlines now; houses being foreclosed on, high unemployment, etc. Are we headed for another depression???
Anyway on the way home we were looking out at the dark city lit by all the neon lights of all the businesses still open at 9:30 p.m. Rose was commenting that all the dots of light looked like a giant dot-to-dot picture. She said maybe if we connected all the dots it would give us a picture of what God looks like. And maybe if more people could see this, they would come to know God and everyone would believe in God and get along and stop fighting and there would be world peace. Rose commented on how different but beautiful the scenery was after dark. She said it should make people ask how this came to be so beautiful, and if they asked her, she could give them a Bible and tell them about God. And if enough people know about God, everyone would stop fighting. She wants to grow up and tell other people about God. I told her she didn't have to goto another country; she could be a missionary right here just by telling her friends about Jesus and inviting them to church like she has been doing. She was excited about that!
